Ingo Kowarik, TU Berlin
Ingo Kowarik is a plant ecologist and professor of Ecosystem Science/Plant Ecology at Technische Universität Berlin, Germany.
His main research interests are (i) understanding biodiversity patterns in a changing word, with a focus on cities and biological invasions, and (ii) developing concepts to support human responses to changing biodiversity. The latter includes impact assessments of non-native species, urban conservation strategies, and approaches towards biocultural diversity in cities.
Ingo Kowarik also serves as the honorary State Commissioner for Nature Conservation and Landscape Management of the federal state of Berlin and has been involved in many processes in developing Berlin's green space system, including the integration of novel urban ecosystems.
